Alleged Triton Sex Scandal Defendants Due in Court

Update, 6:20 p.m.: Triton Teachers Plead Guilty, Face 30 Days Jail or House Arrest

Update, 3:30 p.m.: Triton Teachers Plead Guilty to Sex Scandal Charges.

At least some of the five teachers and administrators charged in the Triton teacher-student sex scandal are expected in court today.

Camden County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Jason Laughlin sent out a short note saying there's a status conference hearing at 2 p.m. in the Camden County Courthouse in Camden. Laughlin did not elaborate, but did note some of the defendants may attend the hearing.

Three Triton Regional High School teachers and two administrators are suspended with pay after the scandal broke in October 2012. Teachers Jeffrey Logandro and Daniel Michielli are charged with varying degrees of inappropriate contact with students; teacher Nicholas Martinelli is charged with official misconduct.

Triton principal Catherine DePaul and vice principal Jernee Kollock, who allegedly knew about the teachers' relationships with the students, but did not report them to authorities, also are charged.

With pay? it's our money, they won't be getting there jobs back no matter what so why are we paying them? I can't wait to hear a good reason why we should be paying them.

"A certificated school staff member can only be suspended without pay if they've been indicted on criminal charges or if tenure charges have been filed by his or her school board, according to New Jersey law."

The school board did vote to immediately revoke their pay without further action (like a meeting or another vote) necessary, should any of the accused get indicted or convicted.

I get the innocent until proven guilty thing. But my question is why is it taking so long for an indictment???
Is someone, somewhere just waiting for this to be forgotten and quietly go away?

Must be really rough on them being suspended with pay. Getting paid to sit home and mount their defense.

It's not unusual for indictments to take 6 months to a year, so anything that would come down would actually be fast compared to the average. Of course, that's a dead point now for the three who pleaded guilty today.

By contrast, the Pine Hill teacher just indicted was arrested almost two years ago.

How about indicting the SUPERINTENDENT JOHN GOLDEN who knew all about this scandal and did nothing.,.. why wasnt HE charged? DEPAUL told him of the teachers infractions when it first occured, Why is he still in his position he is as GUILTY as anyone else.
