Camden County College Offering Mini-Courses

The classes start in two weeks, so sign up as soon as possible.

Camden County College’s Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility is offering five-week mini-courses on a variety of interesting historical topics during the second half of the Spring 2012 term. Each mini-course is designed to add to the personal development of any community member interested in these subjects and help New Jersey teachers earn required professional development hours.

Beginning the week of March 19 and running through April 28 are:

● “The Early Roman Empire and the Destruction of Pompeii,” which meets 1 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays on the Blackwood Campus in Gloucester Township.

● “The Kennedys of Massachusetts,” which meets 6:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays on the Blackwood Campus in Gloucester Township.

● “The Walking Dead: Zombies in Literature & Pop Culture,” which meets 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays on the Blackwood Campus in Gloucester Township.

● “21st Century World Geography,” which meets 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays on the Blackwood Campus in Gloucester Township.

● “The Post-Apartheid South Africa and the Mandela Children,” which meets 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays on the Blackwood Campus in Gloucester Township.

● “Westward Bound: The Great American Western Road Trip,” which meets 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the William G. Rohrer Center in Cherry Hill.

Enrollees may pay $25 per mini-course or purchase a $50 Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility membership and take an unlimited number of mini-courses at no additional charge through June 30.

Teachers who participate receive 15 hours of professional development per mini-course. If they only attend individual class meetings of a course, they will earn three hours per attendance.
