Camden County to Honor Veterans at Prayer Breakfast

U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews will be among the speakers at the event in Glendora.

The Camden County Board of Freeholders and the County’s Division of Veterans Affairs will host the county's 24th annual prayer breakfast honoring veterans on Saturday, March 17. The event begins 9 a.m. at in the township's Glendora section.

“This annual event is a point in time where we can honor our veterans and come together to show our respect for their service,” said Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr.

The event is open to the public.

Congressman Rob Andrews (D-N.J.) will speak, providing a Congressional update, and Cappelli will salute the veterans with remarks. Jack Conners, Director of the county's Office of Veterans Affairs and a former state Assemblyman, will introduce the speakers; Lt. Col. Alfred Bancroft, also of the Veterans Affairs Office, will serve as master of ceremonies.

The service is meant to highlight the accomplishments, service and sacrifices of military veterans and their families. The presentation of colors will be performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6253; the Pledge of Allegiance will be led by retired U.S. Army Col. John Rawley.  The invocation will be offered by Rev. Peter Molnar, a retired Army chaplain.

During the ceremony, vocalist Maria DiSciullo will sing "The Star Spangled Banner" and vocalist Bob Patterson will perform "God Bless America." Camden County Honor Guard bugler Marty Seroter will play "Taps." 

The service will end with a benediction from Rev. Molnar and the retirement of the colors by VFW members.
