'Careless Cooking' Fire at Millbridge Gardens Displaces 2

Police report no injuries in the Tuesday evening fire at Millbridge Gardens Apartments on Blackwood Clementon Road.

Two residents were forced from their apartments Tuesday night after a fire at Millbridge Gardens Apartments displaced them.

Gloucester Township firefighters and police rushed to the 400 section of the apartment complex on Blackwood Clementon Road for the fire, which broke out around 5:40 p.m. The blaze was brought under control quickly, but fire and water damage left the two residents unable to return home. One was assisted by the American Red Cross, while the apartment complex management found accommodations for the other.

No one was injured in the fire.

A township fire marshal said careless cooking caused the fire.

Responders to the scene included the Blackwood and Chews Landing fire companies, police, Gloucester Township EMS, Gloucester Township Office of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross.
