Council Approves Sale of Surplus Vehicles, Equipment

An auction-style sale is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10.

 

Gloucester Township Council on Monday unanimously approved the sale of surplus township vehicles and equipment, as well as three confiscated vehicles.

The auction-style sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Department of Public Works compound on Erial Road.

Available to the highest bidders will be Ford Crown Victoria police vehicles, pickup trucks, weed whackers, lawn mowers, desks, computers, printers, more than 100 bicycles, and much more.

You can even bid on a street sweeper! (For a more complete list, click on the PDF to the right.)

Minimum bids on vehicles range from $500 to $2,000.

The auction is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Cars with a gisillion miles on them no maintnance i stick to the bikes.

What does the township have 101 bikes for?

The majority of these bikes likely are recovered by police after being abandoned in parks, on sidewalks, at shopping plazas, etc. In some cases, they may have been stolen, then dumped by the thieves after they used them to get where they needed to get. It's not uncommon for municipalities to have dozens of bikes like this. After not being claimed for so long (each town decides how long they'll hold onto them), they go out to auction.
