Former Councilwoman Due in Court Next Month

Crystal Evans will get her day in court next month.
The former Gloucester Township councilwoman was arrested in early November on charges alleging she harassed and frightened a township woman throughout 2012.
The case was reviewed at the Superior Court level, due to the initial indictable stalking charge police filed against Evans, but ultimately was bounced back to the municipal court level, Gloucester Township Municipal Court Administrator Patty Carroll said Wednesday. Evans was not indicted.
Evans' case will be heard in Winslow Township due to the potential for a conflict of interest, given her past role as Gloucester Township councilwoman from 2008 through 2011.
Evans is scheduled to appear in Winslow court on Wednesday, March 6, at 10 a.m.
Gloucester Township Police Ptl. Benjamin Lewitt signed single complaints for fourth-degree stalking and non-indictable criminal mischief after police were called to investigate an incident on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
Evans, 48, turned herself in to police on Nov. 8.
The stalking complaint signed by Lewitt alleged Evans "placed several hundred telephone calls to the victim with the purpose to harass and put fear into the victim" in 2012. It also states Evans was seen "on or near the victim's residence unannounced and uninvited."
The criminal mischief complaint claims Evans caused less than $500 in damage to the gutter downspouts to the victim's home.
The complaints identify the victim as Angela Deluca, who reportedly was living with Evans' brother-in-law at the time.
Due to the nature of the incident that led to Crystal Evans' arrest, police were unwilling to divulge a location of the alleged crime.

ON my way to support Crystal Evans in her trial today for stalking and vandalism as well as many other things that she was charged with. innocent until proven or pleading guilty right? Wonder if the news media will be there? Now that Sean is gone I wonder if anyone will even cover this story for us since its not important to Haddonfield or Collingswood.

Sean, first of all I have no intentions of making a comment on Ms. Evans. That being said I am curious as to what made you come to this decision to censor or review comments about a former councilwoman on this issue. There have been a few people who constantly make baseless, slanderous, horrendous comments and accusations about a sitting Mayor
and Council on a daily basis and yet you have not censored those comments.
Just wondering what made you come to this decision, seems a little unbalanced.

As I stated above, the comments on the November article got quite inappropriate. It went beyond the typical baseless "corrupt politician" accusations you appear to be alluding to above. And it went both ways--purported GT Dems making unfounded accusations against Mrs. Evans and purported supporters of Mrs. Evans making baseless accusations against GT Dems. I'd prefer not to have a repeat here. Hence my decision to put comments on "needs approval."
Not for nothing, but we have pulled down plenty of inappropriate comments directed at Dems over the 2+ years the site's existed. To go into detail publicly would defeat the purpose of pulling those comments down, so I won't. Also, we decided to put comments on the Moriarty DWI articles on "needs approval," too.

I read your historical posts and you said in November you were not going to post anymore, guess you just couldn't help yourself when this article was posted. This is not about Sybil, it's about Citizen Evans and how any comments about her would be approved by Patch Staff.
I have a problem with that statement from Patch. Ms. Evans is no longer a Councilwoman, she is a citizen just like the rest of the residents and needs no courtesy afforded to her different from any other resident. I read about residents committing alleged crimes and their is a free for all on comments as long as they abide by the Patch's rules. That being said then why wasn't you post about "The newly purchased Councilwoman" reviewed by Patch staff. I think that was more than a little out of line comment by you, and baseless. But maybe Patch was so busy making sure that nothing to negative was said about Citizen Evans, it just happened to slip by them. In my opinion, Patch, you should have taken this comment down about a true Councilwoman who hasn't had the opportunity to sit on Dias yet. Unbalanced in my opinion,
