Is Angela DeLuca related to the DeLuca from the CCMUA?

This week, Dave Mayer’s Blackberry (which by all accounts – including Mayer’s own – is running GT) must have sent him a a friendly reminder that Councilwoman Evans was on his vendetta list. As a Philly Inquirer article points out, Evans, the “first black woman to hold elected office in Gloucester Township, the top vote-getter in the November 2007 election,” was passed up to head the Township’s annual Black History Month event in favor of faithful Machine soldier Latino Orlando Mercado. The move was so blatant that Evans, “took her grievance to the local and state NAACP” and was open about her belifid that fellow Democrats of passed “over her because of her support of GOP mayoral candidate Cindy Rau-Hatton and Republican Christopher J. Christie for governor in the last election.”

Dave Mayer uses the Gloucester Township Police to do his dirty deeds. He is fuming at the former Councilwoman because she didn't follow his plans to help Norcross. Evans stood up for the people and they will do anything to take a good person like her down. She will rise again because she is someone who cares about people. The story is so bogus and dumb. Of course the mayor would get someone connected with the Camden County politics to make up these frivilous charges. No wonder Evans didn't bother to comment. She has too much class for that.

I can not believe that Glouester Twp Mayor David Mayer's and Gloucester Twp council are still out to get Chrysal Evans trying to ruin her reputation. If you ever asked for help from her she would do everything in here power to help you (when she worked for David Mayer) and as Gloucester Twp's councilwoman.

This is the typical George Norcross style of trying to embarrass people who don't follow his rules. He figures this is a good way of destroying Ms. Evans. I really do hope she really did go to the FEDS and the Justice Department and spill the bean on him and the rest of these crooks

How coincidental it is that the first black woman was arrested on the eve of the election of the first black president's relection win. I wonder how many more black persons in this township and across the country will be subjected to such tactics by those who feel somewhat angry about this election and the previous win. Councilwoman Evans has been for the people of this township since she began her years of dedicated public service. So one caucasian woman is allowed to take down one black woman because that is how things are done around here. If you are black you are subject to criminal charges, whether true or not, being levied against you. People of color had better be concerned about living here in Gloucester Township. It has never been easy to feel safe and protected by the police or the local pols. They have shown their distaste for this woman because she wouldn't cow tow the mainstream and do what she was told. Now she is being spanked for lact of better terms by a vindictive mayor and council. They've been stalking her since she left office waiting for the opportunity to pounce and destroy. Councilwoman hang in there, a lot of people will see through this vendetta tactic.

Councilwoman, today I saw a post. "Today, you have the power to say this is now how the story is going to end." Keep fighting the good fight. The best defense to this slanderous is the truth!

Can someone explain why you believe the mayor made Crystal Evans "placed several hundred telephone calls to the victim with the purpose to harass and put fear into the victim"? Why was she calling her in the first place? Can anyone explain how the mayor made Crystal Evans rip the gutters off this person’s home? Can anyone explain how the mayor made her drive erratically around the person’s home and stalk her? Can anyone explain what her being a former black councilwoman has to do with her doing these things?

Can anyone explain where Crystal Evans husband was during all of this? A good husband would have known something was bothering his wife and notice she was calling her over 200+ times. There seems to be more to this story that is not in this article.

I have no idea why Ms. Evans would engage is such behaviors as I don't know her personally, and wouldn't wish to speculate on her personal life, but I really think you all give the government too much credit. I don't think that, at most levels, they are capable of all of the many many vast and widespread conspiracies that you accuse them of.

Councilwoman Evans is a great community organizer that truly cares about people. When she served as an assistant to Senator Madden and during her tenure as a Councilwomen for Gloucester Township she assisted many of her constituents with significant problems within their respective communities. She was always available to be of service to her constituents and everyone she helped; loved and admired her for her dedicated service. Former Councilwoman Evans has done so much to help so many people including one of her in-laws, of whom has done so much to help destroy her excellent reputation. I pray that she will overcome this unfortunate situation.

I wonder if this will get posted or not. I hope it does. I remember when my family had an issue a few years back and the only one to help them was Mrs. Evans. That will never be forgotten. She always was there to help others and filled with only the best of intentions. I cannot say the same for the Mayor and some of the current council members. I am not sure what the story is with Angela Deluca but I think if Patch is going to write an article they should have mentioned she is the girlfriend of the Councilwoman’s brother-in-law who lives with her. I don't like mixing family and politics but I think in a case like this it should be reported. This could explain the calls if there were family issues. We don’t know everything but I know there is more to this story that was left out.

It's very unfortunate the GT police have engaged in this pathetic attempt to discredit and defame Crystal Evans. According to the article Mrs. Evans allegedly, "placed several hundred telephone calls to the victim with the purpose to harass and put fear into the victim", in order for this to happen would require dedicating a large part of each day to doing nothing but calling this Deluca. Since Mrs. Evans works, is raising a family, assisting member of the GT community and is engaged in philanthropic and political events across the state, it is physically impossible for her to meet the requirements to satisfy this allegation. Consequently, it is my contention this is nothing more than a racist witch hunt. Since the democrats in Camden County want to behave like the Dixiecrats of Alabama, that's how they will be treated.

Councilwoman Evans and the former Mayor Cindy Hatton were cool. They did a lot for young people in the community. They stepped it up for my friend Haja who drown in the water. I Councilwoman Evans put on a fierce fashion show and taught us how to model. She encouraged me and helped me build my self esteem. She came in my life at a time when I was at a low point. If you are reading this Miss Crystal I just want you to say God bless you and thank you.

Ok enough of the untruth from N/A. Ms. Deluca is dating and living with her is Dan Evans he is Former Council woman Evans Brother In law. We tryed helping Dan when he was put out of Delucas' home and then he goes back. Mrs. Evans and others like myself were helping and we were used by Daniel. It bothered me so much when i saw this and it stated the numerous calls. Dan told me he was setting up family for not helping him. Im here for the police to contact as well we will contact them.. We saw the help the Evans family gave their relative. Now we see what he does when the helping stops.

This woman that some of you criticize has helped someone you know or someone in your family and she shouldn't have to go through any of this because a few politico's want to demonize someone who has always looked past your party and your race. Another part of the story the journalist reported said:

Evans’ friend Florine Lindsey noted that while Evans had strong African American help, she couldn’t have won without support from the whole community. “A lot of the white people in the township voted for Crystal,” she said. When Lindsey was at the polls on Election Day, She said, she heard tales of Evans' helping people with heating bills, and housing problems.

Crystal Evans loves people and doesn't hurt people, but she was hurt by corrupt politics. She wanted to do the right thing and was never given a the fairness to do so. She touched thousands of people in her lifetime. This woman wouldn't hurt a fly.

I am sorry to hear that Crystal Evans is being charged (not convicted-- until proven guilty in a court of law). When she worked in Sen. Madden's office, she proved to be both competent and compassionate in helping my friends locate much needed emergency assistance including housing and other aid. She went above and beyond the scope of her job! We all are human, and perhaps she may have broken the law, but that is up to a court, not the residents of the township, to decide. I am, once again, disheartened by the partisan conspiracy theories that abound in this township. Hopefully this amounts to a misunderstanding and the whole thing is settled and dropped where it deserves to be....if not, let the courts do their job...

Can Patch investigate something about this story? It states "Gloucester Township Police Officer Benjamin Lewitt" signed the complaint. How is this possible? Under NJ law Angela Deluca would have to sign the complaint the cop cannot because he did not witness what occurred. I think an IA investigation may be in order.

Jimmy I never met the woman in my life. I'm not debating about her good deeds in the past and etc. I am just simply stating that the stuff that some have written on this post is absolutely absurd. The fact that some think that this is some type of conspiracy and not that she may have actually had a lapse in judgement is almost comical. People make mistakes. I can assure you that if the officer signed the complaint, there is some type of statement from the victim and some type of evidence to support the claim from the witness. The police department in this town is one of the better ones in the area. The fact you think they have nothing better to do with their time than to set up a former council woman is crazy.

I am the proud father of Former Councilwoman Evans. I was hesitant to mention it earlier as a posting for fear of affecting the outcome of my daughter’s Case. However, since other Posters referred to my daughter's brother in-law, Dan, I feel compelled to tell the truth about Dan ("DJ") Evans, who was an arrested felon from Philadelphia, PA. He made statements to people that he vowed to ruin the lives of his brother’s family due to jealously and conflicts with his brother. His brother invited him into his home after he was released from prison. He took control and advantage of his brother’s family while his brother worked out of town. DJ was evicted by his brother when he came home because DJ had caused excessive stress on their family, especially on my daughter who felt sorry for him. She helped him find lodging and employment. He was fired from jobs for shoplifting. When DJ moved in with Ms. DeLuca she would put him out of the house each weekend. He would then call my daughter and insist that she find him lodging. If she was unable to do so, he would call her, curse at her, stalk her, harass her, and be physically abusive. Crystal had filed a police report but did not press charges. Many of the calls to the Deluca resident by my daughter were returning calls to DJ who did not answer her calls. I realize now what DJ meant when he told me and others that he intended to ruin his brother’s life. He succeeded in destroying the good reputation of his brother's wife.

Not for nothing, but when someone is REALEASED from prison, they are not a fugitive. She was not "harboring a fugitive" but rather allowing a person who was previously incarcerated, to stay in her home.
Again, I have no vested interest in this, I don't even know Ms. Evans, but that statement was just false and really silly.

I just like the facts that's all. I am sure Ms Evans isn't the first person to try to help a family member who has had a history of problems with the law.
I have no idea what he was incarcerated for, so I have no idea if his crime presents any type of concern to me or my family.
Additionally I have to say that "as a woman" I find your comment rather sexist. We as a society both women AND men should have equal concern for issues such as "crimes agajnst society"
As I said, I don't know the particulars of this case. I don't care to speculate. I would rather just let the law sort it out- as it should be.

I hate to break this to you Justin. This case isn't going federal lol. I am certain the federal court system has much more important things on their agenda than a stalking case in Gloucester Twp. You live 10 minutes from two of the worst cities in the country. This story isn't even news in this county, let alone the country.

The Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act (enacted in 1994), the Federal version of "Megan's Law" (enacted in 1996), and the Pam Lychner Sexual Offender Tracking and Identification Act (also enacted in 1996) - - In brief, the statutes require states to establish registration programs so local law enforcement will know the whereabouts of sex offenders released into their jurisdictions, and notification programs so the public can be warned about sex offenders living in the community (The Lychner Act also requires the creation of a national sex offender registry, and it requires the Federal Bureau of Investigation to handle registration in states that lack "minimally sufficient" programs.) Most notably, information on all registered sex offenders now will be available to the public through the Internet.
