------------------------------

Gloucester Township EMS Alliance has been shut down, according to sources.

Gloucester Township Police have called a 2 p.m. press conference to "provide details of the shut down of the private non-profit contractor which had been providing Emergency Medical Services for Gloucester Township."

An official with the EMS Alliance has told Gloucester Township Patch the reason authorities have given for the shutdown action was improper use of license plates on ambulances. The official indicated the EMS Alliance would be holding its own press conference, but could not specify a time for such an event.

The EMS Alliance official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also claimed the ambulance service would be operational again by the end of the afternoon.

Mutual-aid companies are now providing ambulance services in the township.

"EMS service has not been disrupted thanks to assistance being provided by mutual aid agencies," Gloucester Township Police Department said in a statement.

Thee you go again Gladden, now you want to bully Mr. Mercado? Good luck with that..
You just made one of the most irresponsible comments I ever read from you..."If you get hurt, just drive yourself?" No Gladden, you call a ambulance!! No services have been disrupted.
No Darren Gladden, we are not all the same in the end game.
There is only room for one Village Idiot in G.T. Congratulations, you finally got a job. You should get double pay for talking out of both sides of your mouth.
The ambulance co is a INDEPENDENT Co. It's a business, they charge for their service, they allegedly have tax evasion problems, and they REFUSED to provide audit info to Twp.
So sounds like they are not going to do business in TWP. any more..

That's just like the state to endanger the public over nonsense. Longer 911 response times over some b.s. license plate violation welcome to Communist New Jersey!

My visceral reaction to this is "Why would GTPD put public safety at risk over a technicality?"
But I trust GTPD enough to believe that there must be more to this story.
I'll await a post press conference update.

Wouldn't a fine be more appropriate? Why in god's name would you shut down an emergency service over something so petty?

Anyone with any knowledge of the history between the Eden group and the Mayer group knows that this was politically motivated. Shame on the Mayer for portraying it as a "public safety" issue. Shame on Tom Eden for not keeping the vehicles up to date on registrations and inspections, and shame on Chief Earle for participating in this political charade. Out of the whole thing, I am most disappointed in the Chief for allowing himself to be used by the political machine. I use to respect him.........

Mayor Mayer has now paved the way for George Norcross EMS to come in AS PLANNED. Kennedy is just a front for now. Watch the "long term" plan.
Mayer has been after Eden for ever.
By the way, Virtua is already serving Paramedic service for us. Why not Virtua?
Technicality huh?

Only a matter of time for Virtua I hear they are a big contributor to a certain mayor and council campaign. Pay to play? Not in GT

Shame on the GTPD and the mayor. This is just another riduclous stunt the GTPD are pulling. It is ridiculous that our "so called mayor" is putting 45 of his own GT residents out of jobs. It was an error that a simple phone call could fix and yet it was not resolved that way. Even after all the technicallities were fixed, the mayor still chooses not to let GT ambulances run. Now it will effect the time it takes for ambulances to arrive on call efficiently. It sickens me that the mayor who is supposed to "speak for us" and the cheif of police who is supposed to "protect us" are causing all of this drama over tags that were in the mail? Shame on them.

The EMS Alliance did not cost the taxpayers a dime to protect our town. What will Kennedy cost us? What will it cost taxpayers in the future? How long will it be before the Norcross people reach in to our pockets??????
This has been a long term plan of Mayer's (Norcross puppet)
Don't forget people.....The "Bridge to no where" over the freeway, is still the target for the Cooper project. We did not forget.

Darren, you are putting your self out there with your actions for everyone to see.
Every month you go from one council person to another. I see that you are so disrespectful to any authority. I wonder if you did win the council seat you ran for if you wold tolerate someone who behaved like you. I am Kelli Wallis, not Orlando,or Lenny etc. I am a resident who does not appreciate your behaviour in council meetings. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. In my opinion you make a mockery of the Democracy you say you fight for.
Mr. Gladden, you judge, but you don't want to be judged, you attack, but you don't want to be attacked, you say just care then you say you don't care. You drive around in you van like a maniac, and complain about public safety. I watch your behaviour in council chambers and so do allot of others. Have you no shame? Who gets thrown out 2 times and is proud of it.
I think there is a really nice person inside of you who does care, and wants to be a positive part of our community, just screaming to get out...Let him out..cause this isn't really working for you. Try respecting others and maybe you will be respected, I'm talking about all the people you come in contact with, not just authority.

What's going to happen to 45 employees that just lost their jobs? Why couldn't the mayor have used them instead of bringing in Kennedy Health, The GTEMS Alliance has been a part of GT for the past 10 years made up of the three Vol. ambulance squads in response to the lack of people willing to volunteer on the ambulances. You see Kennedy stepped right in to fill the void so fast that they had to have known that they were going to get the job of providing EMS service for GT, they run one ambulance that covers Lindenwold, Clementon, and Pine Hill how did they come up with two more ambulances and the EMT's to staff them that fast?

And why shut down the volunteer service in Glendora and Erial. They have their own officers and board?

I would like answers from our township leaders. If we don’t get them, I say we all attend the next town council meeting to get them. I want to know what is the best option for us as the residence of GT for EMS service? I am concerned we went from 5 to 2.5 ambulances and also for the 45 people who lost there job, what about them, is there any plan to help them? I could care less about the Mayer/Earle - Eden shenanigans. At best the reason to totally dismiss the EMS Alliance seems weak to me. What is best for us the residence of GT? I would like to understand all of the reasoning for dumping what was once a working EMS service for us. If this is the "straw that broke the camels back" what were the other reasons? Please make me believe this was a good move for the residence of GT. So far I've not seen a good reason. Please Mayor Mayer, assure us what you've done is for the good of the residence of GT, and not just partison politics as is being speculated in all these comments.
