GTPD Bike Safety Rodeo Returns for Year Two

Gloucester Township's bike-safety event was a success its first year.

As part of its participation in Bicycle Safety Month, the Gloucester Township Police Department will host its second annual Bike Safety Rodeo on Saturday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gloucester Township Community Park.

The rodeo will teach kids—and their parents—important elements about bike safety, including proper use of safety helmets.

"A Bicycle Safety Rodeo is a bicycle skills event which provides an opportunity for bicyclists to practice and develop skills that will help them to become better bicyclists and avoid typical crashes," a press release from the Police Department states. "The goal of any bicycle rodeo is to provide an opportunity for the participants to learn, practice, and demonstrate their bicycle handling skills in a fun, noncompetitive atmosphere. All riders will have their bicycle and safety helmet inspected."
