Gloucester Township Police have charged three people in an alleged drug deal gone bad at LaCascata Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 2:51 p.m. Saturday, a Pine Hill man contacted Gloucester Township Police Department to report he had been robbed at gunpoint at the LaCascata townhouse community, located off Kelly Drivers Lane.

The robbery victim admitted he was robbed while attempting to purchase drugs, Sgt. Dominic Coppola said. He claimed he was robbed of $1,400 by a male and a female.

Police located the female suspect in the area and took the victim and suspect back to the police station for questioning.

Police determined through investigation that the female suspect, identified as Valerie Walters, a 34-year-old LaCascata resident, and the male suspect, identified as Anthony Truitt, of Mickle Street, Camden, had planned the robbery, according to Coppola. It was also determined that a knife, not a gun, was used in the robbery.

The knife used in the robbery and some of the cash reportedly stolen were recovered, Coppola said.

Truitt, 30, was later apprehended by Lindenwold police officers and turned over to Gloucester Township Police.

Walters and Truitt were charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree possession of a weapon while committing a narcotics distribution offense, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. They were lodged in Camden County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

The robbery victim, identified as Walter Bricker 2nd, 21, of Turnerville Road, Pine Hill was charged with criminal attempt to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and criminal attempt to possess a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on his own recognizance.
