GTPD Searching for Shoe Dept. Shoplifting Suspects
Two suspects were caught on surveillance video stealing various items from the Shoe Dept. on Jan. 5.
Gloucester Township Police need help in identifying two suspects who were spotted shoplifting on surveillance video at the Shoe Dept. in Blackwood.
On Jan. 5 at approximately 2 p.m., a man, woman and child entered the store. The man appeared to try to distract the cashier as the pair walked down an aisle. The woman proceeded to take and conceal five watches. The female then took a purse and placed two pairs of shoes inside. The male also handed a basketball to the child and walked out with a pair of Nike socks.
Police describe the male as a black man in his thirties. He stands about 6 feet tall with shoulder length braids or dreadlocks. He was wearing a knit cap, a dark zip up jacket and blue jeans.
The female is described as a heavy black woman in her thirties. She is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and was wearing a tan jacket with black pants.
The child is described as a black female, about 4 to 6 years old. She was wearing a pink or purple jacket with a multi-colored knit hat.
Anyone with any information on the suspects in the video can contact the Gloucester Township Police's Anonymous Crime Tip Line at 856-842-5560 or email police@gtpolice.com.

yep, then they walked over to their sect 8 housing that they don't pay for and ate a nice dinner with food that the taxpayers paid for....only in America.

You are a racist uh?

That's actually funny, telepathy, because GT44 did not mention race however you made that comnnection. Using rational logic, which you're not too good at, it appears that you are, in fact, the racist. Now, maybe GT44 has other issues, I don't know, but it's clear where you're coming from.
I've been called a racist on here when my comments had nothing to do with race and so, can only conclude that people who make that charge, the real racists, are out there looking for anything they can find to justify their warped sense of reality.
Nice call, telepathy.

Then what are GT44's rationale for making his stereotypical comment? Considering the suspects are black, it can be inferred as a racist comment. Regardless, it is wrong and insestive to assume that the suspects are anything other than shoplifters. People who steal or commit crimes come from many different socio-economic backgrounds. Therefore, it is Paul who is not using rational logic to make his conclusions. Would you have made the same comment if the suspects were a middle aged, nicely dressed white family? I doubt it, but I could be wrong. Most likely you would think they had hit a rough patch and were trying to provide for their family. Either way it's wrong to steal and should never be justified, but GT44 is obviously referring to race even though he didn't specifically state it. Any rational person can see that. Most people who get government assistance and live in public 8 housing have low paying jobs and are trying to improve their lives. They're not all criminals. Both statements are unsubstantiated and are based on a personal bias. It's never a good idea to make generalized statements about someone based on one alleged even. The saying, "do not judge someone before you have walked a mile in their shoes" is appropriate here.

I quote..."maybe GT44 has other issues." I think that takes care of the fact that he's stereotyping. I saw it and admitted as much. However, that stereotype can refer to black or white people.
I wrote a blog that you can look back and read for yourself that compared the president, who is, by the way, a black man, and another man who was the child of Italian immigrants and worked hard throughout his life to become a net giver and employer. I pointed out that the president wanted to take what this man had earned and give more to other people who had not worked and sacrificed as hard and as much.
Boom ! I'm a racist. So was the conclusion of a Gloucester Township teacher who comments on the Patch. You may read the blog and subsequent comments here (http://gloucestertownship.patch.com/blog_posts/a-tale-of-two-men) if you so care to.
Racist...frankly, I'm tired of hearing it.
BTW, thanks for uncovering and telling us the inner workings of GT44's heart.

Just because one misguided person incorrectly identified you as a racist, doesn't mean GT44 isn't one or racists aren't out there. And yes, this stereotype can "apply" to white people, but it is typically associated with black people and you know it. Also, the suspects are black. Finally, President Obama also worked hard throughout his life to get where he is today. Regardless of his politics, he's the definition of a true American success story. Sometimes you can know what's in someone's heart by the content and tone of his anonymous comments.

And you might be tired of hearing about racism, but you're not the one being being affected by it. Do some people abuse the race card and unfairly label people sometimes? Yes and it's wrong. But that doesn't mask the fact that a large percentage of Americans have racial biases and make generalizations based on the color of someone's skin. We should be past this as a society but unfortunately we're not.

And all those people holding all this racial bias are what, white? And what of those who are not white, my friend?
I am 60 years old and cannot remember ever hearing the term white-Hispanic. When there was a need to identify people as such it was either as Caucasian or white, African-American or black, Hispanic, Asian, etc. But when Trayvon Martin (African-American) was shot by George Zimmerman (Hispanic), all of a sudden he was identified as a white-Hispanic. Why was that?

It seems as though you are overly sensitive because someone labeled you a racist for a blog that clearly had nothing to do with it.

Stop it, my stomach hurts from laughing. No, I was totally surprised that one of our GT citizens, a teacher by trade, who took pride in her liberal upbringing and identified herself as the preeminent moderate was so biased as to make such a comment. I've been called much worse here and usually find it amusing. Go ahead, make me laugh some more.

Dennis, actually if anyone hear seems overly sensitive check out the man in your mirror. i said nothing about there race and someone like yourself is smart enough to know that people that milk our systems come from many ethnic backgrounds. I've said far worse things on here about criminals that steal from OUR community that have not lasted long on here (thanks Sean). Just like I know nothing about you or your motives don't try to assume you know me...I have no pity for people that commit crimes be it white, black, yellow, purple or green let alone someone that does it with their child present. Now Dennis, you can think of me however you feel off of my post but off of yours I guess I'll assume that I know what card is at the top of your deck. Paul, I never heard of a white -hispanic either but such is the world today.
