GTPS Board Wants Your Input on New Superintendent

A public input session will be held next Wednesday night.

The Gloucester Township Public Schools Board of Education is seeking the community's input in its search for a new superintendent.

Specifically, the board is seeking the public input to establish criteria for the background, training and experience necessary for the new superintendent of schools," according to the district website.

A public input session will be held Wednesday, April 11, at Charles W. Lewis Middle School's media center. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Terri Lewis, New Jersey School Boards Association's field services representative for Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties, has been brought on to serve as the district's search consultant.

Lewis will use Wednesday's session to explain the search procedure, the roles played by the board, district staff and the public in the search process, as well as lay out the calendar for the search.

Superintendent Thomas Seddon will continue to serve the district through August, leading up to his Sept. 1 retirement date just days before the start of the 2012-13 school year.

Seddon has been superintendent since 2004. He first came to the district as a math teacher at Lewis Middle in 1972.
