New GT EMS Alliance Leaders Ready to Answer Call
New chief Mark Kramer is confident his group is ready to give Gloucester Township "the best possible care."
The new leaders of Gloucester Township EMS Alliance—the board members and the chief—are confident they're going to get the job done.
"Thankfully, we've worked together diligently. Through professionalism, through integrity and just being able to strive forward in order to build a better organization as a whole," GT EMS Alliance Board of Directors President Ray Currey Jr. said.
Gloucester Township officials apparently believe it's a "better organization" today than it was just six months ago. In fact, many stressed in recent weeks that GT EMS Alliance is a new organization that only shares the name of the group that was banished in late June.
"We really have a new age and a new day for the Gloucester Township EMS Alliance," Mayor David Mayer said. "I want to thank the board members—the new board members—really for their diligence over the last six months."
Township Council unanimously approved a five-year contract between the township and GT EMS Alliance at its meeting on Thursday. The contract takes effect at 6 p.m. Monday.
Mark Kramer is GT EMS Alliance's new chief.
"We've been working hard—all of us, myself and the board—just trying to do the right thing," Kramer, a retired Winslow Township police officer, said. "We just want to serve the community and give them the best possible care. That was our goal: To bring back this organization the right way."
GT EMS Alliance served as the township's EMS provider for about a decade before its contract was terminated in late June after a surprise inspection by the state Department of Health's Office of Emergency Medicine turned up a number of violations on the organization's ambulances.
Currey worked with GT EMS Alliance in full- and part-time capacities over the last seven years before taking a job with the state.
GT EMS Alliance currently has 18 full-time and 15 part-time EMTs.
The organization does need volunteers and interns. If interested, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 856-481-4829.
