UPDATE, 1:54 p.m. 10/30: Gloucester Township trick-or-treating has been rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 2, from 3 to 7 p.m.

UPDATE, 1:13 p.m. 10/30: Trick-or-treating in Gloucester Township, scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, aka the "Frankenstorm."
A make-up date has not yet been announced, but the township notes trick-or-treating activities will be held later this week.

Gloucester Township issued the following statement regarding Halloween trick-or-treating in the wake of Superstorm Sandy on the township Facebook page:
Mayor David Mayer is awaiting direction from state officials and the governor regarding an Executive Order or decision regarding Halloween trick-or-treating activities. Once a decision is made, information will be posted to the Gloucester Township website and on our social media sites. Thanks.

What about all the kids who have football games friday night and have to be at the high schools @ 430 thru 930 pm....why not make it saturday?

I agree on the postponement, but why not just make it Saturday, where folks won't have to cut their work day short or rush home from work. Just a thought.

Does anyone know if the Township schools still plan to do activities tomorrow? The parents that are coming in have taken off work tomorrow if it turns out that they are not doing it then that needs to be announced ASAP!

I can only speak to Erial Elementary, as that is the school where we planned on photographing the students' Halloween parade, and it has been moved to Friday afternoon.

Union Valley and Lilley will do Halloween activities as planned tomorrow, Erial has postponed till Friday. I do not have any information on any othey township schools, sorry.

As far as I know, Chews and Loring Flemming will be holding their planned Halloween activities tomorrow- at least my kids teachers will be.
I have to agree that Saturday would have been optimal. There are a lot of youth sports and activities on a Friday evening. Many parents will have to choose between letting their kids go trick-or-treating or honoring their sports and activities commitments.

I assume that the younger kids can trick or treat as early as 3:00. The times (even on regular Halloween years) are difficult. Curfew being at 7 when some parents don't even get home from work until 5 or 6 makes for a very tight schedule on Halloween night. A lot of houses are not ready to give out candy at 3 in the afternoon, or even 4 for that matter. I have always thought 4-8 or even 5-8 would be better trick or treating hours.
