More than 500 years later, many Americans get to stay home from work or school the second Monday each October in honor of the unofficial founder of America.
In Gloucester Township, schools will not be closed in recognition of Columbus Day. Both the K-8 Gloucester Township Public Schools and the Black Horse Pike Regional districts will be open Monday.
