Police Catch Alleged Burglar Red-Handed

Janine Taunitas was reportedly going door to door in a senior citizens complex. Police say she's connected to 10 burglaries.

Police caught up with a reported prowler on the prowl for homes to burglarize, and authorities believe she’s connected to 10 area break-ins.

Janine Taunitas, 20, of Turnersville Road, Sicklerville, is connected to the burglaries in Gloucester Township and Pine Hill, Gloucester Township Police allege. She was arrested Dec. 14 after police received reports of a suspicious woman walking door to door on Shenandoah Drive in a senior living complex.

Officers caught up with Taunitas after she drove away. She reportedly told police she knew the homeowner whose door she was knocked on, and was in the area looking for her missing dog. Police said the suspect did not know the homeowner and was on a burglary mission.

A Gloucester Township Police investigator subsequently tied Taunitas to the other area burglaries; stolen property from some of the break-ins was recovered, police say.

Taunitas was charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft. She was sent to the Camden County Correctional Facility with $50,000 bail, with an option to pay 10 percent.

thes break ins seem to be in a localized area in Glendora, I was wandering why the police & public officials 1 arent makikg the the general public in these areas aware theres a problem 2 there should be better line of comunications open between residents & police, after all we could help each other if we residents were vidual and kept a look out so to speak maybe with team work we could handle the situation swiftly, but without having an open comunication residents wouldnt know to be on the lookout..... just some ideas from a concerned Glendora resident (disabled so couldnt defend myself if i had to)

Brian, like the police department Facebook page. They do media releases all the time to inform the public of what is going on in the area.

Also, do a neighborhood watch program. Chip in for the sign and watch out for each other--exchange emails also like a big chain guard. Works for us here in our area. :)
