Police: Man Fatally Shot with Arrow in Berlin Borough

Timothy Canfield is accused of using a bow and arrow to kill another man following a fight at a Berlin Borough home Monday night.

A Berlin Borough man allegedly killed another man in an unusual way: by shooting him in the stomach with an arrow.

Timothy Canfield, 25, of the first block of North Brill Avenue in Berlin, Camden County, is charged with murder in connection with the slaying of Kereti Paulsen, 25, of Cape May Court House.

Paulsen got into a fistfight with another resident of the Brill Avenue home sometime between 10 and 10:45 p.m. Monday night, authorities said. Once the fight ended, everyone except Paulsen went back into the house, witnesses told investigators. Canfield, who was not involved in the altercation, went outside carrying a compound bow and a quiver of arrows, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. Canfield allegedly used the bow to shoot Paulsen in the stomach with an arrow.

Police found Paulsen lying in the back yard of the Brill Avenue home, mortally wounded. He was taken to Virtua Hospital in Berlin, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy Tuesday revealed the arrow perforated an iliac vein in Paulsen’s pelvis, according to the prosecutor's office.

Canfield admitted to driving to woods in Winslow and disposing of the bow and arrows, according to authorities, who retrieved the bow Tuesday.

Better place a ban on all bows and arrows, they kill people. Also, if we had our armored vehicle, we could have prevented this tragedy!

We need positive Bow & Arrow Control NOW. WHY SHOULD LAW ABIDING CITIZENS HAVE OR EVEN NEED SUCH A WEAPON. Our constitution does not even give us a right to own this type of WEAPON of mass death...

An all out call for an ABB... Assult Bow Ban!!! Mental health checks and home inspections must be required for all Bow owners... and only one Bow A Month may be purchased! This should have been enforced 64,000 years ago when in the South African Sibudu Cave, they were invented!!! 64,000 years is just too long, ban them NOW!!! Anyone know if it was a Lumenok arrow that was used???

D.H., you can't be hatin' on my Atlatl's and not be willing to ban all rocks and stones too... the amount of historical deaths by stoning is well documented and can not continue! I propose an immediate rock and stone buyback program in order to rid the streets of these dangerous weapons once and for all.

We need an armored vehicle to intercept that arrow.
