UPDATE: Peter Cheeseman Road Project Delayed

The road will be closed near Camden County College later this week.

UPDATE, 12/20 10:58 a.m.: Police announced Tuesday morning that the start of this project has been postponed until Thursday at 8 a.m. Peter Cheeseman Road will remain open until that time.

An emergency dam replacement project will shut down Peter Cheeseman Road near Camden County College the rest of the week.

Motorists can expect Peter Cheeseman Road to be closed between College Drive and Hickstown Road 8 a.m. Tuesday till 5 p.m. Friday, according to Gloucester Township Police.

The two detour routes for southbound traffic on Peter Cheeseman Road are College Drive to Erial Road to Hickstown Road or College Drive to Route 168 to Sicklerville Road to Hickstown Road.

Northbound Peter Cheeseman Road traffic will be sent either Hickstown Road to Erial Road to College Drive or Hickstown Road to Orr Road to College Drive.

Detour routes will be marked. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area.

Police advise anyone who going to the college's Blackwood campus to utilize the College Drive entrance.

The college and Gloucester Township Community Park can also be accessed by the park's entrance on the Hickstown Road side of Peter Cheeseman Road, but passage will not be possible beyond the college entrance, according to police.

The dam project is being completed at the direction of the Camden County Department of Public Works.
