Quite a Year for Timber Creek Cheerleaders

The team won the Olympic Conference competition for a second straight year and took seventh at nationals in Dallas.

The Timber Creek High School cheerleading squad capped a remarkable competiton season by taking first place in the Olympic Conference for the second year in a row.

It was a year of many firsts for the Chargers cheerleaders—first-place finishes, that is.

Coached by Michelle Costello, the team won the Feb. 19 Olympic Conference competition held at Washington Township High School. It marked the second year in a row the Chargers left Washington Township as the competition's grand champion.

Before the Olympic Conference competition, the Chargers took first place in regional tournaments held at Villanova, in late January, and in Christiana, DE, in early February.

The girls also finished third in their class (medium varsity) and seventh overall at the National Cheereleaders Association High School Nationals in Dallas, TX, Jan. 7-8.

"We are also proud to cheer for our state champion football team and for our varsity basketball team. The cheerleaders enjoy working with the Gloucester Township Stallions during the summer and love all of the support we get from the GT Stallions and the Gloucester Township Girls Athletic Association Competition Cheerleaders—the GTGAA Wildcats," Costello said. "The support from the younger cheerleaders in our community have really made an impact on this group of cheerleaders."
