Sicklerville Man Charged in Scrap Metal Thefts

Christopher Willis, 25, allegedly spent his Saturday stealing scrap metal from New Brooklyn Road homes.

 

A New Brooklyn Road resident caught a Sicklerville man red-handed as he allegedly was stealing scrap metal from a shed Saturday.

Gloucester Township Police charged Christopher Willis, 25, of Hampshire Road in the incident.

Police said Willis was taking scrap metal from a shed in the 1800 block of New Brooklyn Road when a resident confronted him around 4:30 p.m. Willis fled in a Volvo, according to reports.

Patrolman Michael Crabtree pulled over the car on College Drive based on the description and found the stolen items inside, police said.

Meanwhile, another New Brooklyn Road resident reported a similar theft. Those items also were discovered in the car, according to reports.

Willis is charged with burglary, defiant trespass and two counts of theft by unlawful taking. He was remanded to the Camden County Jail on $10,000 bail.
