Skyler Robinson, Suspect in K-9 Schultz's Death, Back in Jail
Skyler Robinson, 22, was arrested Monday by Gloucester County authorities. He was on that county sheriff's most wanted list for charges unrelated to the K-9's death.
Skyler Robinson’s meeting on a drug rehab program—which will allow him to avoid trial on charges he killed a police K-9—ended with him back in jail Monday.
Robinson, 22, was arrested at Superior Court in Camden County by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Fugitive Unit, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. It turns out he was No. 4 on the Gloucester County sheriff’s most wanted list.
Robinson is known locally as a suspect in the death of Gloucester Township Police K-9 Schultz on Nov. 30, 2010. The Sewell man allegedly swung the German shepherd into oncoming traffic after Schultz bit down on his arm during an arrest. Robinson was accused of robbing a Chinese restaurant and trying to escape when confronted by police and Schultz.
Schultz was hit by at least three cars and died at the scene.
The case caused an uproar in Gloucester Township last week after residents learned Robinson would enter a drug rehab program rather than face a prison sentence by going to trial. Robinson’s alleged co-conspirator earlier received a six-year prison sentence in the case, but Robinson took advantage of a brand-new law to enter the drug rehab program.
After a Jan. 28 meeting at Superior Court for that program, Gloucester County authorities arrested Robinson on violation of a probation warrant. Robinson has been on probation since 2010 for theft by unlawful taking, according to Gloucester County authorities. He failed to appear before a judge on Dec. 21, 2012, and a warrant was put out for his arrest.
The Gloucester County case isn't related to the Schultz charges.
Robinson was held without bail in the Gloucester County Jail.

You mean Judge Brown didn't have this guys record in front of him at the sentencing deal? Or he had the record and ignored it. Sounds like an investigation is warranted - a real one.

Does this mean he will no longer be eligible to attend rehab instead of facing jail time for his crimes on November 30th, 2010?

lol priceless, that he would go all through our system without anyone noticing he was #4?! wow, just goes to show you how hard they are working to fix the issues at hand! Hopefully this will get him the jail time he deserves, but it is just to sad that he sat in front of one of our judges and no one knew! scary!

I can not understand a law that would let a murderer off to go to a drug rehab. Schultz was an officer, as much as his partner......They want to take guns from people, but let the killer free.....God Bless our Police Officers .....

Wake up courts, this guy is a career criminal. The 8th Amendment is IRT cruel & unusual punishment. But the only thing that is cruel & unusual here is law abiding citizens having to deal with these types of A-H****.

Maybe Gloucester County will get it right. A career criminal belongs in jail, NOT rehab'!

Regardless that the charge was not related to Schultz's death, Gloucester County managed to do what Camden County was woefully inept at and unable to do -- get this loser dog killer into jail for SOMETHING! And the Gloucester County officers arrested him right at Camden County Superior Court; that's classic. Don't tell me this dog was not a police officer, and sure as heck don't tell the police that!! Thanks to GloCo for a little smattering of justice for a officer lost in the line of duty.

How could he have gone through an entire hearing without the police or judge knowing he had a warrant or was #4 on the most wanted list??? The system is completely backwards! I can't even miss a traffic court date without getting a warrant. This is a joke. At least they got him now.

Isn't jail rehab? Keep him there for a long time until he's cured.
