Suspicious Man Approaches 12-Year-Old, Police Say

The individual drove away after attempting to engage the girl; police hope someone in the community saw what happened or recognizes the car involved.

An unknown man approached a 12-year-old girl twice on Thursday, attempting to draw her into conversation, Gloucester Township Police reported.

The girl was walking home from her bus stop near Pine Run Drive in the Lakeview Apartment complex when the man approached around 2:50 p.m. March 7. The driver pulled up next to the girl and slowly passed her, saying “hi.” He drove past her a second time and asked if she was afraid of him, the girl told police.

The man drove away on Pine Run Drive toward the Black Horse Pike.

The man is described as an Asian male in his 30s with shorted, spiked hair. He was reportedly driving a newer, four-door car with a tan roof.

A search of the area didn’t turn up the suspect, but the police department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is looking into the incident and seeking information from the public. Anyone who witnessed this incident or information on the man or vehicle should call Gloucester Township Police Department’s Crime Tipline at 856-842-5562.

If you see the vehicle or suspect, call police at 856-228-4500 or dial 911.
