2014 High School Graduates May Apply for Rohrer Scholarships at CCC

Applications for $1,000 Rohrer Scholarships are now being accepted from local students who are graduating from high school as members of the Class of 2014 and plan to attend Camden County College this fall. Up to $129,000 in Rohrer Scholarships will be awarded to incoming CCC students this year.

To be considered for one of the available 129 Rohrer Scholarships, incoming students must be residents of Burlington County, Camden County or Gloucester County. The public or private high school from which they are graduating also must be located in one of those three New Jersey counties. In addition, students must be graduating from high school with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Up to 129  will be awarded by the Camden County College Foundation’s William G. Rohrer Scholarship Fund, which was established by the William G. Rohrer Charitable Foundation. The Rohrer Foundation has contributed a total of $220,000 to the Camden County College Foundation for scholarships, and an additional $180,000 has been committed.

Last year, a total of 33 new and transferring recipients were selected. They shared in $53,000 in funding from the Rohrer Scholarship Fund. One of the incoming Rohrer Scholars was Rachel Domanchich, who graduated high school at age 16 before enrolling at CCC in the Honors Program to major in liberal arts.

Incoming CCC students must take the Accuplacer placement test and be deemed “college ready” – immediately able to take college-level English and mathematics courses – before they may apply for a Rohrer Scholarship. Both new and transferring students also must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA form.

Students may apply for a Rohrer Scholarship by using the online application located at https://camdencc.starsscholarshipsonline.com. Further details about the program are available from Don Delaney at (856) 227-7200, ext. 4660, or ddelaney@camdencc.edu.
