In honor of the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, Camden County College is presenting the national traveling exhibition “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War” now through Dec. 13 and is sponsoring a number of activities in conjunction with the display. CCC’s Blackwood Campus Library is one of only a select group of entities chosen to host this interesting and informative panel presentation.

Planned in addition to the exhibition are:
-- 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7, Blackwood Campus Library: Opening reception featuring refreshments, the Readers’ Theatre Project presentation “Lincoln Speaks: In His Own Words” and the talk “Lawnside Men Answer the Civil War Call” by Linda Shockley of the Lawnside Historical Society.
-- 7 p.m. Nov. 12, Civic Hall: Keynote lecture “Lincoln and the Emancipation” by prolific Lincoln scholar Louis Masur of Rutgers University. Masur, who recently published the book Lincoln’s Hundred Days, will trace the process by which Lincoln came to issue and defend the pivotal document.
-- Dec. 7: A free daytime bus trip to and guided tour of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, including the special exhibit “Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs.” Participation is limited to the first 40 attendees who sign up, with tickets being distributed at the opening reception on Nov. 7 and thereafter until they are gone.
“Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War,” a traveling exhibition for libraries, was organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. It was made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and is based on an exhibition of the same name developed by the National Constitution Center.
