The Camden County College men’s soccer team defeated Union County College 3-1 to win its first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region XIX championship. The team has a 17-3 record for the season and also is co-champion of the Garden State Athletic Conference.
First-year student Zach Gray of London, England, was named Most Valuable Offensive Player for the tournament. He scored one goal in Saturday’s final win and contributed two goals during Thursday’s semi-final victory. Gray also earned second-team Garden State Athletic Conference and second-team All-Region XIX honors for the season.
The Cougars will next travel to Herkimer, N.Y., to play for the Division III national championship. The NJCAA tournament will be held Nov. 14 to 17.
