Free Dental Cleanings, Screenings for Kids at New CCC Clinic on Feb. 7

Camden County College’s dental hygiene and dental assisting students and staff will provide free cleanings and other preventive care – along with dental education – to area children aged 12 and younger for “Give Kids a Smile!” Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 7.

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. “Give Kids a Smile!” Day, which also is known as National Children’s Dental Access Day, provides services to youngsters who otherwise would not have access to such care.

On “Give Kids a Smile!” Day, more than 100 children will be able to be served in the CCC Dental Hygiene Clinic located inside the recently opened Kevin G. Halpern Hall for Science and Health Education. This all-new clinic is 25 percent larger than the previous facility, which means that 25 percent more students are able to enroll in the College’s selective dental hygiene and dental assisting programs and, during the clinical hours that are part of their learning, these students may serve 25 percent more patients.

On “Give Kids a Smile!” Day, services are free of charge to pre-teen children. During the rest of the year, patients of all ages receive preventative care and education at a low cost.

Camden County College is one of more than 80 facilities throughout the state participating in this project in association with the New Jersey Dental Association. All services delivered on CCC’s campus will be overseen by Dr. Catherine Boos, who is a licensed dentist as well as the director of the College’s dental programs.

Halpern Hall is on the Blackwood Campus, which is at College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road in Gloucester Township. Free, off-road parking is abundant.
