Mainstage Open House raises the curtain on fall performing arts classes

Parents and students looking to explore the world of performing arts will discover many opportunities at Mainstage Center for the Arts Open House. This event takes place Friday, September 6, 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 7, 7:00 p.m., Mainstage’s Academy Hall, 27 South Black Horse Pike, Blackwood, NJ.

With nearly 60 classes in acting, voice, dance, piano and non-traditional classes as well, Mainstage offers something for everyone from preschoolers through adults.

The acting classes are designed so each student has fun, while learning the fundamentals of drama. These classes range from Creative Dramatics, which introduces four and five year olds to the world of theatre, to Advanced Acting, an auditioned class for teens with acting experience. The dance classes include classical ballet and pointe, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, and musical theater for students ages three to 18. While the voice lessons work on developing healthy singing habits, career planning and audition preparation.

“In addition to learning and mastering specific skills, performing arts students gain self-confidence that helps them in all areas of their lives,” said Anne Marie Weaver, Mainstage Center for the Arts special projects director and acting instructor.
