'Paintings and Sculpture by Howard Hao Tran' at CCC Through Feb. 27

Identity, home, tradition, change and the dichotomy between East and West are among the ideas under exploration in “Paintings and Sculpture by Howard Hao Tran,” which is on display at Camden County College through Feb. 27. Tran draws on his own experiences in his investigation of these subjects.

“My grandparents immigrated to Vietnam from China during World War II, and my family and I lived in Vietnam until I was 12,” says Tran. “Now I have lived in the United States much longer than I lived in Vietnam.”

As a result, Tran considers himself a “Chinese Vietnamese American” and says that he has characteristics of all three cultures “yet is between them all.” His work, he says, explores themes related to his background.

“Paintings and Sculptures by Howard Hao Tran” will remain on exhibit at CCC’s Marlin Gallery through Feb. 27. The Marlin Gallery is located inside Lincoln Hall on the College’s Blackwood Campus, which is at College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road in Gloucester Township.
