Panel of FBI, Homeland Security Officials Speaking at CCC Tuesday

Fans of the television show “Homeland” will want to attend the discussion “Lessons Learned from 9/11: What Every Citizen Should Know About Homeland Security and the Threat of Terrorism” at Camden County College starting at 7 p.m. Oct. 15.

Presented by CCC’s Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility, the event will feature a panel of experts discussing terrorism, homeland security and the various roles of different U.S. law enforcement agencies. Included on the panel will be Edward J. Hanko, special agent in charge of the Philadelphia Federal Bureau of Investigation Office; Thomas Minton III, the homeland security chief of Pennsylvania; and Edward Dickson, director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness.

Each of the three featured speakers has decades of experience in law enforcement and the investigation of terror threats. Hanko was an officer with Baltimore City Police Department for five years before joining the FBI in 1986. Minton served 22 years with the FBI and focused on investigating matters of national security. Dickson previously served in the FBI from 1983 to 2008.

The discussion, which is free and open to the public, will be presented in Civic Hall in the Connector Building on the College’s Blackwood Campus at College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road in Gloucester Township. Professional development is available for educators. Ample free, off-road parking is available in the surface lots near the venue.
