Every year, Camden County College awards full scholarships to two 11th-grade students who have winning projects at the Coriell Science Fair. This year, the CCC scholarship winners were Gabrielle Sallard of Signal Hill Academy and Luke Bonanni of Cherry Hill High School East.
Sallard won the physics category with "The Laws of Splinting: The Effects of Biomechanics and Physics in Splinting." Bonanni won the microbiology category with "The Role of Gut Bacteria Composition in Human Disease: Exploring the Microbiome."

They and hundreds of other middle and high school students from Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties pitted their investigative and creative scientific skills against one another during the 33rd annual Coriell event, which took place March 22 on the College's Blackwood Campus. Categories that the South Jersey students in sixth through 12th grades contested ranged from chemistry to computer science and from engineering to medicine.

Judges included Professor Roberto N. Feudale of CCC’s Chemistry Department and other science, medical and business professionals from throughout the area. Students were “dressed for success” as they were interviewed by the judges about their hypotheses, experimentation and displays.
Among the other titles for this year’s entries were “Acupuncture and the Placebo Effect”; “A-maze-ing Learning”; “Cricket Survival after Simulated Nuclear Event”; “Fun with Antigravity”; “Getting Smart with Music”; “‘Power Plants’: Comparative Analysis of Redox Electro/Thermal Conductivity in Common Weeds”; “Space Exploration: Travel to Mars”’ and “Will Machines Conquer Mankind?”
Winners advanced to April's Delaware Valley Science Fair. There, entrants will compete for advancement to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, which is held in California in May.
