Checkers, Obviously Not the Nixon-Era Dog, Needs a Home

He's the Patch/NJ Patch pet of the week.

Checkers is a handsome dog.

He's medium energy level so he loves to chase tennis balls but is equally happy relaxing on a bench. He also walks pretty nicely on the leash and knows "sit" and "paw."

His only requirement is a home with no kitties. He is neutered, all shots, microchipped and comes with pet insurance.

Richard Nixon once owned a dog named Checkers. It came to prominence in a famous speech in 1952 when the then vice-president and later president of the United States told a national audience he would keep the dog, who was a gift from political donors.
