Police: 5K Traffic to Cause Minor Delays Around Chews Landing Road

From 8 a.m.-11 a.m., drivers may experience minor delays on Chews Landing Road, Craig Drive, Hobart Drive, Kelly Drivers Lane, Hider Lane, Maurer Avenue and Ellis Avenue.

The annual Gloucester Township Day Scholarship Committee 5K race is Saturday, and police are warning residents to expect minor delays along the course. 

From 8 a.m.-11 a.m., drivers may experience minor delays on Chews Landing Road, Craig Drive, Hobart Drive, Kelly Drivers Lane, Hider Lane, Maurer Avenue and Ellis Avenue.

To avoid delays, drivers should seek alternate routes of travel or avoid the area unless necessary.

The race raises scholarship money for high school seniors preparing to attend college. This year’s race will award $45,000 in scholarship money, Race Director and Gloucester Township Council Vice President Orlando Mercado said.

The race will be held at Veterans Park next to the municipal building, and begins at 9 a.m. Runners can register at www.lin-mark.com or on race day. Race fee is $20 through April 9, and $25 the day of the race.
