Restrictions In Place for Morning Commute as Nor'easter Dumps Snow on Region

A nor’easter that dropped snow on the region overnight and threatens to continue to do so until Friday morning will slow the morning commute for anyone planning on hitting the roadways Thursday morning.

Speed limit restrictions are in place on local bridges, according to 511nj.org.

The speed limit has been reduced to 25 miles an hour on the Ben Franklin Bridge in both directions between Camden and Philadelphia; on the Betsy Ross Bridge between Pennsauken and Philadelphia; and on the Walt Whitman Bridge between Gloucester City and Philadelphia.

There are also speed limit restrictions on the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. The speed limit is 35 miles an hour in both directions between the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Pennsville and Route I-195 in Robbinsville, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

The speed limit on the Garden State Parkway is 35 miles an hour between Route 109 in Cape May and Exit 124 in Sayreville, and 45 miles an hour between Exit 124 in Sayreville and New York State Line in Montvale.

Those who have ventured out are not faring well.

A vehicle reportedly spun out on Route 42 northbound north of Exit 7 in Gloucester Township, causing the left shoulder to be closed in the area of College Drive just before 6 a.m.

There’s also a disabled truck on Route 42 soutbound Exit 14. As a result, the ramp is partially blocked, and drivers are urged to use caution.
