Sicklerville Woman Aids Elderly Voters

Erie Bey helps more than 200 seniors in Lourdes Health System's LIFE program vote by absentee ballot.

The following press release was submitted to Gloucester Township Patch by Jennifer McGowan Smith:

Sicklerville resident Erie Bey, a participant at LIFE at Lourdes—a unique program based in Pennsauken that assists elders to live safely at home while providing them with a team of health-care experts—always believed in the importance of seniors being active.

And with Election Day fast approaching, Bey decided she wanted to help her fellow seniors at LIFE cast their vote. Since many LIFE seniors are unable to attend an official polling station on the day of the election, Bey organized a team of volunteers, along with Lourdes staff, to help seniors register for absentee ballots. More than 200 absentee ballot applications were completed.

“I’m so happy to help others,” says Bey. “It’s a patriotic thing to do and it touches my heart so see so many seniors excited about having the opportunity to vote.  I hope to continue helping seniors vote in future elections.”
