Speed Limits on Expressway and Surrounding Local Bridges Reduced

The speed limit is 25 miles an hour around the Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross and Walt Whitman bridges.

There are speed restrictions in place on local roads as plowing and salting begins following Thursday night's storm, according to 511nj.org.

The speed limit on the Atlantic City Expressway between the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City and Route 42 in Washington Township has been reduced to 35 miles an hour in both directions due to weather.

The speed limit between the New Jersey and Philadelphia sides of the Betsy Ross, Ben Franklin and Walt Whitman bridges have all been reduced to 25 miles an hour due to road conditions.

Additionally, travel restrictions remain in place on the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway Friday morning, and New Jersey remains under a State of Emergency.

The speed limit in both directions of the New Jersey Turnpike between the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Pennsville and the area just north of Exit 12 in Linden is limited to 35 miles an hour due to road conditions, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s website. On the Garden State Parkway, traffic is slowed to 45 miles an hour between Southern Terminus/Route 109 in Cape May and the New York State Line in Montvale for salting and plowing.

While the snow seems to be have tapered off, the Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
