Frosty, Coffee and Ice Skates

This weekend, GT Patch has picked a medley of holiday events for those of all ages to enjoy.

Let's face it—some of us need a break from holiday shopping. Stretch your legs and visit an ice skating rink, or sit back and see a local show. This weekend, Frosty the Snowman is in town, Starbucks serves up more than just coffee and the Mainstage Center for the Arts hosts its Holiday Concert & Family Festival.

Frosty the Snowman

  • Where/When: The Ritz Theatre Company, 915 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m., Saturday, 1p.m. (Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time) 
  • What's Going On: Celebrate the joy of this holiday season with the cast of Frosty the Snowman at the Ritz Theatre. Watch as a snowman comes to life after a magic hat is placed on his head. This fun production will have kids of all ages smiling as Frosty has adventures before the cold weather goes away.
  • Price: $10

Bob Cratchit's Extraordinary Christmas Extravaganza  

  • Where/When: The Ritz Theatre Company, 915 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn; Sunday, 7:30 p.m. (Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time)
  • What's Going On: If you want to see a holiday variety show, come out Sunday night to the Ritz Theatre. This production, by playwright Alex Wilkie, features Ebenezer Scrooge, the Cratchit family, a couple of ghost hunters, Sherlock Holmes and more. There will be singing, dancing and plenty of funny moments the entire family can enjoy.
  • Price: $15 to $18

Starbucks Holiday Fun

  • Where/When: , 1490 Blackwood Clementon Rd., Clementon; Friday, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Starbucks isn't just for grown-ups. Stop by this location and enjoy lots of kid-friendly fun. This free event will feature Christmas storybook reading, cookie decorating, face painting and holiday crafts. A special friend from the North Pole is rumored to be planning to make an appearance.
  • Price: Free

Mainstage Center for the Arts Holiday Concert & Family Festival

  • Where/When: , 200 College Dr., Blackwood (Lincoln Hall and the Dennis Flyer Theatre); Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • What's Going On: This holiday event will feature the Mainstage performance groups, Harmony and Encore Show Choirs with High Pointe Dance Ensemble. Come out to this holiday concert and family festival for plenty of entertainment. There will be hot chocolate, a visit with Santa, and for additional fees, delight in an ornament-making station and a cookie fundraiser to benefit Harmony's summer performance tour.
  • Price: Tickets are $9 for children 12 and under and seniors; $11 for general admission

Ice Skating in Voorhees

  • Where/When: The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees, 601 Laurel Oak Rd., Voorhees; Public skating times are Monday through Thursday, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 8 to 10 p.m.
  • What's Going On: It's the time of year to drink hot cocoa and ice skate, right? Whether you are a novice or an expert, the Flyers Skate Zone is a nice, close-to-home venue that allows you to lace up your ice skates and glide across the rink. This location is ideal for those of all ages.
  • Price: Public skating admission, $7 per session; Skate rental, $3 per session

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

  • Where/When: The Broadway Theatre of Pitman, 43 S. Broadway, Pitman; today, 12:15 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Outlawing toys?! That is just what happens in this production of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. The show tells you about young Kris Kringle in the small town of Sombertown and how he bravely stands up to grumpy Mayor Burgermeister Meisterburger for outlawing toys. Then you'll see adult Santa Claus discover why he delivers toys to children, how his reindeer fly and why his workshop is at the North Pole. You'll leave this show filled with holiday cheer!
