Hairspray, Horses & Hamburger

GT Patch has picked fun weekend events for those close to home and those bound for the Shore.

We know it's hot. It's summer. It's supposed to be hot. This weekend, don't run from the great outdoors, embrace them!

There's a huge music festival by the Camden waterfront you won't want to miss. There's also a horse show for kids of all ages as well as a fireworks following two Camden Riversharks games. If you must stay indoors, don't miss Hairspray, performed by Mainstage Players at Camden County College, Blackwood.

We've picked great weekend events with something for everyone, no matter what their age.

22nd Annual Children’s Benefit Horse Show

  • Where/When: Dream Park, 400 Route 130 # US, Logan Township; Today, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.;  Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • What's Going On: The United Professional Horsemen’s Association (UPHA) Chapter 15 is hosting their 22nd Annual Children’s Benefit Horse Show at Dream Park.  Come out to this family friendly event and see over 120 horses. Nationally, UPHA’s main charity is breast cancer. A Pink Ribbon night will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free to attend

Camden Riversharks vs. Road Warriors (Post-game Fireworks)

  • Where/When: Campbell's Field, 401 N. Delaware Avenue, Camden; Friday, 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, 5:35 p.m.
  • What's Going On: The Camden Riversharks have four games this weekend, but only two of them will feature post-game fireworks. Attend these fun filled games and score great eats while you're at the ballpark. Music is played, mascots dance, and Chickie's & Pete's crab fries are for sale. After the game, stay foir the fireworks show.
  • Pricing: Tickets range from $5-$15, plus any applicable fees 

 

Hairspray

  • Where/When: , Dennis Flyer Theater, College Dr. & Little Gloucester Rd.,Blackwood; Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
  • What's Going On: I'm a huge fan of plus-size Tracy Turnblad (pun intended), the leading lady in the musical hit Hairspray. This show is the tale of a 1960s teen dancing her way to local cable fame and fighting for integration. Come see the Mainstage Center for the Arts production of this show, complete with a live orchrestra.
  • Pricing: Tickets are $15, seniors & students; $18 & $21, adults

 

Firepit Fridays @ Valleybrook

  • Where/When: Valleybrook Country Club, 1 Golfview Dr., Blackwood; Friday, 4 p.m. to close
  • What's Going On: Every Friday night enjoy fire pits and discounted drinks at Valleybrook Country Club. At 8 p.m. there is even a bagpipe performance.  
  • Pricing: Discounted  prices include $15 Wine by the bottle and some 3-course dinners for $25

 

Ham & Burger House Party

  • Where/When: Haddon Lake Park, 13th Ave., Park Dr. & Prospect Blvd., Haddon Heights; Saturday, 10:30 a.m.
  • What's Going On: This kid friendly park playdate features Ham and Burger, self proclaimed party animals. Their website boasts, "We rock the beats that keep kids dancing." There is sure to be toe tapping fun for grown-ups too!
  • Pricing: Free to attend

 

XPN Music Festival

  • Where/When: Wiggins Waterfront Park, 100 Mickle Blvd.,  Camden; Friday, Gates open at 5 p.m., Saturday, and Sunday, gates open at noon
  • What's Going On: The radio station WXPN, 88.5 FM is bringing three days of live music to the Camden Waterfront this weekend. Come out and hear performances by Dar Williams, Citizen Cope, Joseph Arthur and more.
  • Pricing: Tickets are $5 for kids; Daily Tickets for WXPN Members, $20, General Public, $30; 3-Day Festival Pass for WXPN Members, $45, General Public, $65 

SHORE-

Goo Goo Dolls

  • Where/When: Tropicana Casino & Resort, 2831 Boardwalk, Atlantic City; Saturday, 9 p.m. 
  • What's Going On: Listen to the sounds of the Goo Goo Dolls for one night at the Tropican Casino and Resort. The Goo Goo Dolls are known for their hits "Let Love In" and "Before It's Too Late". Joining the Goo Goo Dolls will be special guest Michelle Branch. Branch is a Grammy award winning pop/rock vocalist.
  • Pricing: Tickets are $45, $65, $85 & $100, plus any applicable fees

Howie Mandel

  • Where/When: Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, 1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City; Saturday, 9 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Many know Howie Mandel from his recent popular shows, Deal or No Deal and  America's Got Talent. This talented TV host, actor and comedian brings his stand-up to the Borgata for a laugh filled Saturday night. Come hear his humorous take on current events.
  • Pricing: Tickets are $65 & $75, plus any applicable fees

Murder Mystery Dinner

  • Where/When: The Inn of Cape May, 7 Ocean St., Cape May; Sunday, 8 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Enjoy the show One Tough Cookie by playwright Jeanne-Andree Nelson. Try to solve the mystery as a host of characters attending the inaugural celebration for Jacob Thurman, the newly elected Mayor, point fingers at each other after someone drops dead. This fun show will keep you guessing until the killer is finally revealed.
  • Pricing: Adults, $45; Children, $15

 

Tribute to the Philippines

  • Where/When: Music Pier Auditorium,  Music Pier,
    Moorlyn Terr & Boardwalk, Ocean City; Saturday, 8 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Enjoy this cultural event in Ocean City! Featured during the night will be Filipino American singing star, Rene P. Sese, America’s Got Talent Semi-Finalist Nina Sophia Mojares  and more.
  • Pricing: Adults, $10; Children, free
