Mistletoe and Menorahs

No matter what holiday you celebrate, GT Patch has picked the best weekend holiday events for those of all ages to enjoy.

It's Christmastime. It's also Hanukkah ... and almost Kwanzaa. Whatever you celebrate, this holiday weekend is filled with great events from which to choose.

If you aren't swamped wrapping gifts and want to escape your house (and perhaps some of your family), check out the best of what this weekend has to offer.

Starbucks Holiday Fun

  • Where/When: , 1490 Blackwood Clementon Rd., Clementon; Friday, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
  • What's Going On: This is the second go-round for this event. Stop by this location and enjoy lots of kid-friendly fun. This free event will feature Christmas storybook reading, cookie decorating, face painting and holiday crafts. Santa is promised to make an appearance.
  • Price: Free

Being Jewish at Christmas

  • Where/When: National Museum of American Jewish History, 101 N. Independence Mall East, Philadelphia; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Everything is not closed on Christmas. Stop by this festive annual event and celebrate the day with plenty of activities for the entire family. This event features Jon Nelson's Rockin' Kids Revue, LaserScience (a cool laser show that celebrates Hanukkah - the Festival of Lights), story time, crafts, dining and more.
  • Price: $12 Adult; $11 Senior (ages 65+, ID required) / Youth (ages 13-21);$5 Child (ages 12 & under)

Candy Making Tours

  • Where/When: Reiley's Candy, 719 Stokes Rd., Medford; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • What's Going On: This event is ideal for candy lovers of any age. Visit Reiley's Candy, established in 1963, and watch them make homemade chocolates in front of you. Please note that all tours are on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Price: Free

Feast of Seven Fishes

  • Where/When: Garden State Discovery Museum, 2040 Springdale Rd., Cherry Hill; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Celebrate Christmas with a spin on this traditional Italian event this Saturday. The museum boasts it will have crafts, games, stories and snacks—all with a marine life theme. 
  • Price: $10.95 plus tax for adults and children 12 months and over; $9.95 plus tax for seniors

Christmas Eve Experience

  • Where/When: Gloucester County Community Church, 359 County Road 639, Sewell; Friday, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 3, 6 and 8 p.m. (3 p.m. is the kid-friendly service)
  • What's Going On: If you want to hear carolers, a live orchestra and light candles to help celebrate the birth of baby Jesus, visit the Gloucester County Community Church this weekend. They are holding four "Christmas Eve Experience" services.
  • Price: Free

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

  • Where/When: , 1583 Blackwood Clementon Rd., Blackwood; Saturday, 6 to 7 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Saturday night, if you want to stay closer to home, Bethel Christian Center will host a peaceful candlelight service dedicated to celebrating the birth of Jesus.
  • Price: Free

Hanukkah Character Breakfast

  • Where/When: Katz Jewish Community Center, 1301 Springdale Rd., Cherry Hill; 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Do your little ones love the cast from the film Toy Story? Come out this Sunday and have breakfast, celebrate Hanukkah and see characters from the film. This event is open to members and non-members of Katz JCC.
  • Price: $5  

Christmas Stories

  • Where/When: Collings-Knight Homestead, 500 Collings Ave., Collingswood; today and Friday, 7 p.m., Saturday, 12 and 3 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Want to start a new Christmas tradition? You are invited to the farmhouse to hear readings of classic Christmas stories, like "The Night Before Christmas," "The Gift of the Magi", "A Christmas Carol" and "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus." Please note, this location is not stroller-friendly (must climb stairs). All children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Price: $15 adults, $10 children and $5 children under age 7

Monday Kwanzaa Fun

  • Where/When: Cheltenham Square Mall, 2385 Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia; Monday, 3 to 6 p.m. 
  • What's Going On: Monday is the first day in the traditional Kwanzaa holiday. Come out to the Cheltenham Mall as they host the African-American Marketplace. African vendors offer up authentic African clothing, art and jewelry. The mall's website says at 3 p.m. its special invited guests, IMHOTEP High School, will welcome Kwanzaa with a traditional African drum and dance ensemble.
  • Price: Free to attend

Kwanzaa Celebration 

  • Where/When: Garden State Discovery Museum, 2040 Springdale Rd., Cherry Hill; Monday, 1 p.m. 
  • What's Going On: Queen Nur takes the stage at the Garden State Discovery Museum with interactive storytelling and music. She explains the symbols and principles of Kwanzaa, an African American tradition.
  • Price: $10.95 plus tax for adults and children 12 months and over; $9.95 plus tax for seniors
