Trick or Treat Edition

This week's "Get Out" features a boo-tiful assortment of thirteen Halloween themed events.

We can’t escape it. All around us, people are getting excited for Halloween. There are so many events lined up for this holiday, we’ve decided to take the time to dedicate this edition of Get Out to the best Halloween events we could find. Some events are blood curdling while others are filled with kid-friendly crafts and sweets.

Trick or treat, you decide “witch” event you’ll attend. All events are costume friendly.

Deptford Mall's Fall Fun Fest

  • Where/When: Deptford Mall, 1750 Deptford Center Rd, Deptford; today at 4 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Visit the mall for this pre-Halloween Fall Fun Fest. This event is geared toward children 12 years old and younger. Per the mall's website, attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or toiletries to Guest Services when you arrive. The items will be donated to a local non-profit partner, The Gloucester Center for Family Services. Start in Center Court and make a free craft to take home, play games and dance to music after trick-or-treating! Trick-or-treat is while supplies last at participating stores. Just look for the pumpkin in participating stores' windows starting at 4 p.m. Registration is required.
  • Pricing: Free

Spooky Buddies

  • Where/When: Swedesboro Library, 1442 Kings Hwy., Swedesboro; tonight at 6:30 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: This family-friendly event was listed on the Gloucester County Library System's website. Get ready for Halloween by joining them for a viewing of "Spooky Buddies." Bring your own snack. The age range for this event is ideal for toddlers to tweens. Call 856-467-0111 (Teresa Carlton) for more information.   • Pricing: Free

The Night Of Terror

  • Where/When: Creamy Acres Farm, 448 Lincoln Mill Rd., Mullica Hill; tonight, 6 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 6 to 10 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: I’m not going to lie. I was scared just looking at this venue’s website. If you like the thrill of being terrified, this farm is the place to be this Halloween weekend. There are six total attractions, one of which is a hair-raising haunted hayride. The website suggests that children under the age of 13 not attend this event. No refunds are given if you are too afraid to make it through all the attractions.
  • Pricing: $30 all access pass, plus any applicable fees

Prison Haunt

  • Where/When: Burlington County Prison, 128 High St., Mount Holly; Friday and Saturday, 6:30 to 10 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Our goal was to find you cool reasons to scream out in fear this weekend. This event takes place within the prison’s huge courtyard. The website states it takes groups an average of 25 minutes to walk through. They have a cast of more than 60 actors, all set on possibly making you pee in your pants. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid. Also note, there is no handicap access at this venue.
  • Pricing: $17 for general admission, an extra $10 for an R.I.P. pass for little to no wait time 

Thriller Night 

  • Where/When: Voorhees Town Center, Intersection of Somerdale and Burnt Mill Roads, Outdoor Special Events Plaza and Boulevard, Voorhees; Friday, 7 to 10 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: There’s so much happening at this free outdoor event. For starters, Firecreek Restaurant and Bar is holding an open house (where you can purchase “spirits”) with a live jazz band playing inside. At 6:30 p.m. Boscov’s will offer cookie decorating, crafts, a balloon artist, a visit with Wendy the Witch, and more! There will also be a 20-foot movie screen playing “Little Shop of Horrors” at 7 p.m., and a reenactment of "Thriller" by Fusion Performing Arts Center after the movie at approximately 8:40 p.m. The Boo Band will be added live entertainment and be on the look-out for monstrous strolling characters! An Evening with the Ghosts at Gabreil Daveis Tavern

  • Where/When: Gabreil Daveis Tavern, Fourth Avenue and Floodgate Road, Glendora; Friday, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • What’s Going On: You must be 18 years or older for this creepy night of ghost spotting. Stay for hours on end with the spirits that are said to linger on the grounds of this historic property, which used to be a hospital during the Revolutionary War.
  • Pricing: $50 per person

 Barnes & Noble - Halloween Story time and Costume Party

  • Where/When: Barnes & Noble, 1553 Almonesson Rd., Deptford; Saturday, 11 a.m.
  • What’s Going On: Now the kids have another reason to wear their costumes! Come out to Barnes & Noble and wear your Halloween gear. Sit down and hear a Halloween inspired story and enjoy this costume party.
  • Pricing: Free

Gloucester Township Halloween Movie Party

  • Where/When: Gloucester Township Recreation Center, 80 Broadacres Dr., Clementon; Saturday, 4 to 8 p.m.
  • What’s Going On:. Because the township doesn’t want to frighten the faint-of-heart, come out for a not-so-scary Halloween movie, treats, games and more. Wear your costume and bring a chair or blanket to sit on. The township asks that you bring a non-perishable food item that will be donated to local food banks. All children must be with a parent and/or guardian.
  • Pricing: Free

Monster Mash Bash

  • Where/When: Garden State Discovery Museum, 2040 Springdale Rd., Cherry Hill; Saturday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: This event is another early start to the trick-or-treating that accompanies Halloween. The museum boasts ghostly games and goblin goodies, as you trick-or-treat around their exhibits. All activities are free with museum admission. Please note, the museum will close at 5 p.m. and reopen at 6:30 p.m. for this event.
  • Pricing: $5 for member children, free for adults; free with museum admission, which is $10.95 for adults and children 12 months and older, $9.95 for seniors 

Family Ghost Seminar

  • Where/When: Gabreil Daveis Tavern, Fourth Avenue and Floodgate Road, Glendora; Saturday, 6 to 10:30 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Do you want to know more about the supernatural? Attend this seminar, held at one of the spookiest haunts in South Jersey, and learn a great deal about ghosts and more.
  • Pricing: $8 for adults, $3 for children under 12

Halloween Cupcakes and Tea

  • Where/When: The Mansion on Main Street, 3000 Main St., Voorhees; Saturday, 11:30 a.m.
  • What’s Going On: Thank goodness all Halloween events aren’t meant to scare you. This sweet treat is great for any little prince or princess, or superhero, or ninja (kids have so many costume options). Attendees can feast on tea sandwiches, candy, chocolate dipped fruit, scones with Devonshire cream, assorted teas (for adults) and apple cider for the kids. They can also decorate their own spooky cupcake. The Mansion says children who come dressed in a costume will receive one complimentary Sunday Brunch at this location. There will also be face-painting and glitter tattoos, done by Bonbon’s Parties and Events.
  • Pricing: $15.95 per person

Battleship New Jersey – Voyage of the Living Dead

  • Where/When: Battleship New Jersey, 62 Battleship Pl., Camden; Friday through Sunday, 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m., Monday, 7 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Zombies. Blood. Gore. Body bags. What more can you ask for this Halloween weekend? The Battleship New Jersey is transformed into a spine-chilling attraction. Tour the ship solo, or with your brave children and visit with the zombies that have taken over. Once you’ve taken the tour, enjoy music, snacks and soft drinks on the fantail.
  • Pricing: $30 per person

Sesame Place – Halloween Spooktacular

  • Where/When: Sesame Place, 100 Sesame Rd., Langhorne, PA; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: This may seem a little far, but it is worth the trip. Bring the whole family out to the Count’s Spooktacular event at Sesame Place. Come in costume and stop at pumpkin-marked trick-or-treat stations throughout the park. Children will have a chance to go through Abby-Cadabby’s maze and the Count’s. They’ll also enjoy the Halloween-themed Neighborhood Street parade that takes place at 4 p.m. each day. There are shows, a pumpkin-decorating station (for an additional fee) and hayrides (last hayride takes place at 4:30 p.m.)
  • Pricing: General admission, $55.99 (plus tax); Children 23 months and younger, free; Seniors (55+), $50.99 (plus tax); AAA Walk-Up Discount (with valid card), $52.99 (plus tax)
