Meet the Gloucester Township Chamber of Commerce

The local chamber of commerce provides valuable networking opportunities to local businesses.

The Gloucester Township Chamber of Commerce, with more than 90 business members, provides networking opportunities for local business owners and employees.

Gary Chernow, co-chair of the local chamber, says the organization is a valuable tool for any business looking to grow their reach locally.

“In my seven years as a member, I’ve turned first to other chamber members for resources I’ve needed for my business and in turn, other chamber members have turned to my business for resources.” said Chernow, who owns PostNet in Sicklerville.

Chernow chairs the chamber with Doug Rowe, who is a vice president at Beneficial Bank in Sicklerville.

Members include the Gloucester Township government, which, says Chernow, gives local business a voice with elected public officials.

The Gloucester Township Chamber is a division of the larger Camden County Regional Chamber of Commerce (CCRCC). Membership fees are based on business size, with prices ranging from $385 for small companies up to $1,585 for larger companies.

Membership in the local chamber gives businesses access to the benefits of membership in the regional chamber, which also includes the Winslow Township chamber and a White Horse Pike chamber.

“Gloucester Township businesses benefit from the tight-knit feel of a small local chamber and the services and amenities that only a large regional chamber can offer,” said Art Campbell, CEO of CCRCC, which has offices in Cherry Hill.

Benefits include a full-page business listing on the CCRCC’s website, discounts on business services like advertising, payroll and technology services, employee discounts on car insurance, credit union membership and health care products, and access to more than 120 networking and educational events held throughout the year in the South Jersey region.

The Gloucester Township Chamber hosts monthly networking events on the last Wednesday of each month, except for December. Networking events feature guest speakers from Gloucester Township. Past speakers have included former Eagles quarterback and Valleybrook County Club owner Ron Jaworski, Mayor David Mayer, and leadership from the Gloucester Township Economic Development Corporation.

These networking events, says Chernow, give members the opportunity to get to know each other and find out what is going on in the local business community.

Each October, the Gloucester Township chamber hosts “Savor the Flavor,” an evening event showcasing more than 20 local restaurants and benefiting a local charity. In past years, Savor the Flavor has benefited Mainstage for the Arts in Blackwood and also helped raise funds to train K-9 "Schultz," a police dog killed in the line of duty in late November.

This year, "Savor the Flavor" will be held at Camden County College.

The next networking event will be held on Jan. 26 at Filomena Cuccina Italiana, on Blackwood Clementon Road, at 5:30 p.m. and will feature Ralf Reinberg, from Taxes Made EZ as the guest speaker.

Reinberg will be providing tips for the upcoming tax season.

Networking events are open to members and nonmembers alike. The cost is $17 for members and $25 for nonmembers. To make a reservation, contact Rita Owens at 856-667-1600.
