Pep Boys moves forward on Blackwood Clementon Road.

Site work on the planned Pep Boys at Blackwood Clementon and Little Gloucester roads is underway.

Embree Construction Group, of Georgetown, TX, is the lead contractor on the job.

The Gloucester Township Planning Board in June granted Embree Asset Group Inc. approval to proceed with its plans for the Pep Boys automotive service and tire center.

I'm wondering why Pep Boys is putting up a store on Blackwood Clementon Road when there are already 3 auto parts stores on the same road within 2 miles of each other. Blackwood Clementon Road used to be "restaurant row" , then we lost East SIde Mario's and the Stone Grill and Denny's (which I know is now re opening). SO now it will be "Auto Parts row"? I guess with the awful condition of the actual road with its potholes and lousy pave jobs we need that many parts stores to keep repairing our cars? Is the county in cahoots keeping these stores in business? Just asking.

My understanding, from earlier stories, is that this will not be the typical Pep Boys and will not include a retail component. As such it will not be involved in the sale of auto parts to the public. It will serve as an automotive (repair) service and tire center facility only. Personally, I'd be hard pressed to criticize anyone willing to put up capital and maintain a business along Blackwood-Clementon Road. What do you think is the alternative?

It certainly is better than another fast food restaurant. By the way, what are the smart people who moved the disgusting Checkers to Chews Landing Road going to do with that abandoned building. You could have asked the residents who live near there and they would have told you it wouldn't stay open for long.
