Valleybrook Offering Women's Golf Clinic, League

The program starts Wednesday and runs through Aug. 31.

Valleybrook Country Club will host "Ladies Night" Wednesdays this summer.

No, not that kind of ladies night.

This one will be celebrated on the links, not at the Blackwood country club's Riley's Pub—at least not from 5 p.m. to dusk.

The Ron Jaworski-owned golf course will host a women's golf clinic and league over the course of nine summer Wednesdays.

The program is designed to teach the basics of golf swing, rules and etiquette to newer players through a series of weekly clinics. Through league play, it also will allow more experienced players a chance to get out on course with other ladies and improve their game.

"Ladies Night" begins this Wednesday, but enrollment is filled, as more than 100 women signed up in the first few weeks of the registration.

"It's great to see such a large turnout. We have always sought to see more ladies enjoying the game and our courses," said Jaworski, who will make an appearance at the clinic one week to talk golf and football. "These numbers tell me that our efforts are yielding success."

"Ladies Night" will be held at Valleybrook this Wednesday, July 13, July 20, July 27, Aug. 3, Aug. 10, Aug. 17, Aug. 24 and Aug. 31.

This year, organizers decided to focus on getting everyone, including the beginners, out on course from the first lesson—an opportunity not found in other similar programs.

"Ladies Night" is open to any female interested in learning the game, improving their play or simply looking to have fun out on the course.

"I think it's great that so many ladies signed up," said the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback's wife, Liz Jaworski. "I knew we had generated some buzz the last few years, but to have over one hundred participants this year is wonderful. I know they will all get a great experience."
