My Town is a Great Place to Live

I have been a resident in G.T. for over 30 years. Raised my children here and soon to have more of my Grandkids here. I admit, I read Patch and thought I would never try to blog, but I found myself shaking my head at some of the stuff I read. So instead of complaining to my wife about what I read I decided to take a whirl at it and get a blog and get my opinion out there about how it is to live in Gloucester Township. I realizes most folks do realize that there is a election coming up in November, and always with elections there is a time frame called "Silly Season." and from what I'm reading lately, were right smack in the middle of it. Unfortunately. As we all know the local election or re-election is for 3 Council seats and for Mayor. In my opinion this election is probably the most ugly, backbiting, and full of misinformation going out to the public and I think it should have no more life breathed into it. This type of campaigning is counter productive and has no place in a great Township like ours. The majority of my neighbors, friends and acquaintances do not believe the misinformation that is put out there. Some of us have been attending meetings and watching and listening to Council meetings online out of curiosity to try to understand why this group of challengers are fueled with such anger and discontent toward the Mayor, Council, School Boards, and each and every Twp. service .This kind of politicking, for lack of a better name is pretty darn radical and actually a little scary to those of us who are accustomed to a more "Resident Friendly" leadership we currently have. The spokesperson for this group is a man named Paul, I have been following his blogs, he is running for a council seat. I haven't read one thing in his comments that he likes about the Twp. he lives in and wants to be a Councilman in. He talks up the other candidates on his ticket, but I'm wondering if they are imaginary, we haven't read one word from any of them, I mean even the basic, who are they, what is there background and why do they want our votes to seat them on Council. The big question is, who is they Mayoral Candidate? We know her name, but again, who is she, why does she think she can unseat Mayor David Mayer, and why she thinks she can do a better job with Public Safety and Economic Development? What are her qualifications and background? And the same goes for the other 2 candidates. I think we need to hear from them. Paul has been using Patch to do his personal politicking, no problem, it's free advertising but why don't they personally utilize this outlet and follow in step, let us know why we should give them our votes. I am a little concerned about Paul's comments about the Mayor, in his 1 thru 10 candidates blog. Some of the stuff he puts out there is absolutely wrong. I have called the office on a few occasions and have had a very quick response and solution to my problem. I have seen the Mayor locally in a store and he always stops to greet me and my family and he always asks if there is everything is ok. I don't like to bother him on his personal time, but he really wants to know if there is anything we need help from the Twp. with. My wife and I are amused , he seems to never stop, she commented one time that he always seems like that good neighbor who you can always count on and has all the tools you may need to make your life more comfortable. The same goes with the Council members, they are family folks, they coach our kids and are always hands on and are sincerely concerned if you have anything that they can help you with. Good Neighbors, again. They Police Dept. well, the highest praise possible for Chief Earle and his dept. I see the bike officers in our parks talking to the youth, the DARE program in our schools and just last night with National Night Out, wow ,I watched them with the children and how they interact from the Chief to the Special Officers and Fire Dept. again, Good Neighbors and the secure feeling that our kids know they are there to protect them, with their lives. After all, they live here, raise their children here and send them to our schools. From my point of view, I think we are in great hands of care with our current leadership, they are always positive and upbeat and are working hard to improve each and every day. This is a big township with a small town heart for it's residents, I see it firsthand. I read, watch and hear the awful, bitter, insulting radical negativity coming from their candidate Paul who quotes from Sowell and other radical Authors who supports another scary thing Agenda 21.I sure hope Paul doesn't support that Agenda, way to radical for me. So, I will be posting the nice things about G.T. that I see around town, why I am happy to live here, and the improvements I see. I don't like the negativity that's going on here and I will voice my opinion about it.
