Camden County Job Fair Coming in April

The county will host its sixth job fair in two years, plus two resume-writing workshops.

The Camden County Board of Freeholders submitted the following press release to Gloucester Township Patch:

The Camden County Job Fair, hosted by the Board of Freeholders, is being held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Collingswood Grand Ballroom.

“Two years into a period of economic bad news, many of our constituents are unemployed and can’t find jobs. Often, they can’t get face-to-face interviews and need help with improving their resumes,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. “We have learned, through hosting five very successful job fairs over the last two years, that the only way we’re going to get through this recession is together. This event and some resume workshops scheduled beforehand will help job seekers find their new path.”

The job fair is being held in cooperation with the Camden County One-Stop Resource Center so, along with a wide variety of employers, there are representatives offering advice on resume writing and the job search. The Resource Center provides access to services like employment, training and education programs. They can help give you the jump-start you may need in your job search and make sure you’re presenting yourself as the best job applicant.

The One Stop is collaborating with Camden County College to present two Resume Workshops at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 2 and Tuesday, April 3 and the College’s Executive Campus at Route 70 and Springdale Road in Cherry Hill.

“The Resume Workshops are great preparation for meeting employers at the job fair,” said Freeholder Cappelli. “A good resume is the key to getting a job interview. These workshops will show job seekers how to present themselves and how to format a resume so that it will get employers’ attention.

“The job fair is a great opportunity for employers to gain access to a local ready and willing workforce,” Cappelli added. “Having employees from the communities that you serve strengthens your business and makes our communities stronger. We encourage employers to attend and hope anyone in the job-hunting process will take advantage of this free event.”

The job fairs attract around 100 employers. Go to camdencounty.com to find out more or to register as an employer who would like to attend.

The is located at 315 White Horse Pike, Collingswood. There is plenty of parking. A good tip is to dress for success and bring copies of your resume.
