Chris Pinnella Benefit Concert Saturday at Timber Creek High

The lead singer for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform to raise money for the township Relay for Life event.

The Gloucester Township chapter of the Relay for Life cancer charity is sponsoring a benefit concert on April 27 at 7 p.m. with Chris Pinnella, the lead singer for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

The concert will be held at Timber Creek High School. Call Maria Shaw at 856- 357-2863 for tickets or send an email to: ChrisPinnellaRelayConcert@yahoo.com. Tickets are $15.

All net proceeds go to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

"In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, WA, ultimately raising $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation’s biggest health concern—cancer," according to the national Relay for Life website. "A year later, 340 supporters joined the overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising more than $4 billion to fight cancer."

Gloucester Township's Relay for Life is set for June 8 at Lt. Col. Samuel M. Siler Veterans Memorial Park. Last year's event .
