Finally?

The Delaware Valley will get its first blast of winter weather (not including the sleet storm of late October) tonight into Saturday afternoon.

Could Gloucester Township get its first real dose of snow this weekend? (Forget the dusting that came and went at the end of October.)

Well, sort of.

Meteorologist Kristin Kline, with the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, said the Delaware Valley will be under a winter weather advisory beginning at 1 a.m. Saturday. Snow is expected to start falling overnight Friday into Saturday, with total accumulations between 1 to 3 inches.

The temperature will climb slightly during the day Saturday, changing the snow over to sleet and freezing rain.

"Depending on how high temperatures get, it may switch over to rain completely," Kline said.

All precipitation is expected to end before Saturday night, she said, with temperatures dropping to the mid- to upper-20s—so keep an eye out for black ice.

If you've been wishing for true winter weather, Mother Nature's finally throwing you a bone. Just don't get too excited.

"This (system) will give everyone a taste of it, but we're not expecting huge amounts," Kline said.

Another low-pressure system is forecast to move into the area Sunday night into Monday, but temperatures will be too high for anything but rain, according to the National Weather Service.
