Five Things You Need to Know

The Nov. 8 election, school, 9/11 and baseball are discussed in a smorgasbord "5 Things."

1. The ballot draw for Camden County elections will be held this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the county administration building, located at 600 Market St. in Camden.

The draw will determine ballot position—column "A" or column "B"— for candidates from the two major parties, Democrats and Republicans, in the Nov. 8 election.

The draw will apply to ballots across Camden County for all races on the state, county and local level.

One independent, Darren Gladden, is also running for Township Council.

2. The first day of school for Gloucester Township Public Schools and Black Horse Pike Regional School District students is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 6.

3. The township will mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a ceremony at Chews Landing Fire Department's Somerdale Road station. The ceremony, which will include the dedication of a World Trade Center Artifact Memorial, is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11.

4. Paramus Little League, which defeated Erial Little League in the New Jersey state championship, lost to Keystone, PA, in today's Mid-Atlantic Regional championship, 5-2, in Storrs, CT.

Keystone advanced to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA, with the win.

The game was suspended by rain after three innings Sunday, meaning Paramus ace Hiro Mizutani could not pitch when the game resumed this morning due to Little League pitching rules. Keystone scored all five of its runs in the game this morning, following Mizutani's three scoreless innings of work Sunday.

5. Patch wants to hear from at least one individual from Gloucester Township who was directly or indirectly affected by the 9/11 terrorist attacks in a way that changed their life. That change could have come in the form of a career decision, a lifestyle change or a commitment to be a better human being. It could have been watching your son or daughter, husband or wife, or father or mother sent off to Iraq or Afghanistan.
