GTPD Wants Residents to Be Ready for Irene

With it more and more likely Hurricane Irene will bring at least some bad weather our way Sunday, GTPD has put out information to keep you safe.

The Gloucester Township Police Department (GTPD) has released helpful information on how residents can prepare for and stay safe during and after a hurricane as Hurricane Irene moves toward New Jersey.

As of Thursday afternoon, most forecasts indicated Hurricane Irene will be a Category 2 storm, with winds up to 100 mph, by the time it reaches the Garden State early Sunday morning.

Police recommend Gloucester Township residents sign up for its Global Connect service, which results in localized warnings and other important information being distributed by phone, email and text message in the event of an emergency.
