Mayor Gives Flag Football Another Try

Mayor David Mayer invites you to play flag football with him this Saturday.

It looks like Mother Nature will cooperate with Mayor David Mayer's plan to host a flag football game this time around.

Canceled in late July due to sweltering heat, Mayer will take to the field at Lt. Col. Samuel M. Siler Veterans Memorial Park this Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m., to play some football to promote the Mayors Wellness Campaign.

It's supposed to be sunny with highs in the mid-70s on Saturday.

The public is invited to participate in the flag football game. No need to sign up, as residents can simply show up at the park Saturday morning and join in the fun.

The goal of the Mayors Wellness Campaign is to promote healthy lifestyle choices while showing residents exercise can be fun. Mayors across New Jersey host physical activities, like flag football, for the public to join.

Following the flag football game's postponement in July, the Gloucester Township Mayors Wellness Campaign’s first event—a nature hike at Timber Creek Park with community members as well as the mayor and staff—was held in August.

Mayer and the Mayors Wellness Campaign are hosting Saturday's game in cooperation with Sustainable Gloucester Township.
