One Erial Road Closure Ends, Another Begins

Police announce other road projects to impact traffic flow in the area.

Gloucester Township Police Department on Monday submitted the following press release to Gloucester Township Patch regarding traffic pattern changes as a result of an ongoing Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority project:

Erial-New Brooklyn Road

Continuing Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, Erial-New Brooklyn Road will again be closed so that improvements and repairs can be made to an existing CCMUA sewer line. This closure will be between Hickstown Road and College Drive through Wednesday, Dec. 12. Erial-New Brooklyn Road will be impassable between the closure points during this time. Access will be limited to residents, school buses and businesses located in that area. The Gloucester Township Public Works facility may be accessed from the Hickstown Road closure. Residences located between Hickstown Road and College Drive can only be accessed from the Hickstown Road end of the closure.

The marked detour route for northbound Erial-New Brooklyn Road is Hickstown Road to Peter Cheeseman Road to College Drive to Erial-New Brooklyn Road.   The route for southbound Erial-New Brooklyn Road is Peter Cheeseman Road to Hickstown Road to Erial-New Brooklyn Road.

Intersection of College Drive and Erial Road

Beginning Thursday, Dec. 13, and Friday, Dec. 14, from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m., work will begin within the College Drive and Erial Road intersection. Traffic lanes will be shifted on College Drive to allow the work to occur. Officers will be on location directing traffic. Please plan accordingly for expected delays and seek an alternate route of travel.

Erial Road

Beginning Monday, Dec. 17, at 7 a.m. through Friday, Dec. 21, at 5 p.m., Erial Road will be closed to all traffic between College Drive and Little Gloucester Road. Only residents of Rainbow Place and Sunset Drive will have access. All businesses in that area may be accessed from Little Gloucester Road or College Drive.

This closure is part of a long-term construction project that will impact traffic throughout certain areas of Gloucester Township for the next several months. The Gloucester Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau will send out weekly traffic alerts to keep residents and motorists informed of changes and upcoming road closures.

Berlin-Cross Keys Road

The CCMUA closures on Cross Keys Road within Gloucester Township have ended as the work zone has entered into Pine Hill. Drivers may now travel eastbound Berlin-Cross Keys Rd until they reach Turnerville Road in Pine Hill. Drivers will then have to follow the marked detour within that area.

For questions regarding this notice, please contact the Gloucester Township Police at 856-228-4500. For questions regarding the work being completed, please contact the Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority.
